Our take
TouchBistro wins on two points that matter to cost-conscious restaurant owners: the iPad-native interface is intuitive enough that new servers learn it in one shift, and the ability to choose your own payment processor lets you shop for rates instead of being locked into a single provider. The visual floor plan tool is excellent — drag tables, assign sections, and track table status at a glance. Where TouchBistro loses ground is pricing transparency. The $69/mo base plan covers your POS, but online ordering, reservations, loyalty programs, and gift cards are all separate add-ons with unpublished pricing. A fully loaded setup can easily reach $200+/mo. The Mac Mini requirement for offline mode adds hardware cost and complexity. TouchBistro is a strong choice for sit-down restaurants that want processor flexibility, but budget carefully for the add-ons you will inevitably need.
